Overview

Strange fish with too many eyes and teeth swim beneath your boat, promising wealth for those brave enough to face their unnerving forms. These eldritch anomalies are worth a fortune, provided you possess the resolve to reel them in and the stomach to endure their grotesque appearance. Each turn, the active player reels in two fish from the shoals of their choice and selects one to keep in their boat. The unselected fish return to the shoals. Each fish has a strength value, which requires the player to have enough hooks in their previously-caught fish to meet the strength requirement. Many of these fish have otherworldly abilities that can be activated during the game. To use these abilities, players exhaust the fish, turning it sideways to indicate that its power has been spent. Once all the fish have been caught, players tally up the total value of their haul to determine their final score. However, some fish are classified as foul, penalizing the player who has collected the most of these undesirable creatures. The player with the highest total value emerges victorious, proving their skill and bravery in this eerie fishing expedition. Shallow Regrets is a streamlined spin-off of Judson Cowan’s game Deep Regrets, which earned widespread acclaim during its Kickstarter debut earlier this year. This strategic horror fishing game invites players to uncover unsettling curiosities lurking beneath the water’s surface, combining tactical gameplay with a chilling atmosphere that leaves an unforgettable impression.
