Overview

In *Adventurous*, players embark on an exciting voyage across a mysterious ocean in this cooperative tile-placement game. Chart your route by laying down path cards or uncover incredible marvels by fulfilling their specific requirements. Experience the wonders of the high seas while skillfully avoiding too many perilous encounters to successfully complete your remarkable journey. On each turn, the current player may draw two path cards and strategically place them to continue the dotted line representing the ship's course. Alternatively, they can position one of the two available marvel tiles to cover a matching set of encounter icons, provided they meet the marvel’s placement rules. The game concludes when no additional cards can be placed. At the end, players tally the encounter icons of each type that remain visible on the board. If the number of any icon exceeds its allowable limit, the game is lost immediately. Otherwise, the voyage is scored based on completed path segments, non-whirlpool icons, and successfully placed marvels. Points are deducted for unplaced marvels and visible whirlpools. The final score is then compared to the chart provided to determine the ultimate outcome of the journey. For a heightened challenge, the reverse side of the ship card introduces journey effects that evolve throughout the game, depending on the currently active marvel. These effects introduce new obstacles and complexities, testing players’ abilities to overcome adversity and guide their ship to safety, proving themselves true masters of the ocean.
