Overview
Dreamwood is a captivating game designed for 3 to 6 players, with a playtime ranging from 15 to 25 minutes. Each player takes on the role of an animal species, competing to advance their species’ development across five distinct tracks. These tracks represent crucial aspects of survival and growth: food, offspring, exploration, shelter, and leisure. Throughout the game, players secretly place their workers on their personal player boards in order to make progress along these tracks. Each track has its own unique rewards and strategic advantages. The Food track grants one-time bonuses (x2) when workers are placed on it, offering a significant boost to player progress. The Offspring track provides players with additional workers, allowing them to expand their influence and take more actions. Meanwhile, the Exploration track offers a random income each round, giving players the chance to gain valuable resources that can be used to further their species’ growth. The Shelter track is key to long-term success, as it provides secret endgame bonuses. Players must consider how to strategically advance along this track, as the rewards may tip the balance in the final scoring. The Leisure track, on the other hand, offers immediate random advances on the other tracks, giving players a versatile tool to accelerate their progress in unexpected ways. At the end of the game, players earn victory points based on their relative positions on each track compared to the other players. The player who accumulates the most victory points emerges as the winner, having successfully managed their species' development across the five tracks. Dreamwood is a game of strategy, secrecy, and careful planning, where every decision can have a lasting impact on the outcome.
