Overview

Before uniting to form one of history's most powerful empires, the ancient Assyrian people were once smaller, nomadic tribes who roamed the fertile lands along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. In these early days, they survived and thrived by fishing, farming, and adapting to the unpredictable rhythms of nature, including the constant threat of flooding. As they settled and grew, they began to claim new territories, constructing monumental ziggurats and steadily expanding their influence over surrounding civilizations. Now, the time has come to offer your tribute and amass your wealth, for may your path be blessed with favor wherever it leads. In the game of Assyria, the goal is to emerge as the player with the most victory points (VP) by the end. Players accumulate points by building huts and ziggurats, making offerings, and expanding their influence across the land. Each round involves bidding for the turn order, expanding territories on the map, and taking various actions to advance your position. However, the game is not without its challenges. Every third and sixth round, a flood will devastate the riverbanks, wiping away the progress made along the Tigris and Euphrates. After the final flood, the player with the highest score will claim victory. This second edition of Assyria is a completely redeveloped and redesigned version of the original 2009 release, created by the talented Italian designer Emanuele Ornella.
