Overview
In 55 and 54 BC, Julius Caesar made a historic landing in the southern part of what was then known as Britannia. This marked the first encounter between Rome and the various British kingdoms. Many local kings allied with Caesar, either to ensure their survival or to gain protection from hostile neighboring tribes, thus forming the first client kingdoms. Over the next century, this system evolved, so by the time of Claudius' invasion in AD 43, these client kingdoms were well established. Among the most notable client kingdoms were the Regnenses, Brigantes, and Iceni, all vying for power. With Rome's support, they competed for the title of King of the British, or in Latin: REX BRITANNORUM. Rex Britannorum is a strategic board game designed for solo play or for 2-3 players. Victory is achieved by occupying roads and cities across Britannia, as depicted on the game board. Additionally, each player has two personal objectives that provide extra victory points when completed. Players must strategically deploy their troops to outmaneuver opponents. Battles are resolved through strategic decisions rather than random chance, requiring players to use their wits to become the Rex Britannorum.
