Overview
Around five thousand years ago, a resilient community of farmers and hunters established a thriving society on the Orkney Islands of Northern Scotland. Instead of discarding their empty shells, broken tools, bones, and other waste, they ingeniously transformed these remnants into large mounds of earth over the course of centuries. Subsequent generations excavated these midden piles, creating a network of rooms and tunnels that provided shelter from the fierce winds and bitter winters. In Skara Brae, players immerse themselves in the challenge of gathering resources to sustain a growing population of settlers. Taking turns, players draft cards and utilize their workers to furnish homes, prepare meals, craft items, clean up, and engage in trade. At the end of each round, players must ensure their settlers' needs are met, often resulting in the production of more midden that requires cleanup. After four rounds, the player with the most points emerges victorious.
